Casa del Carmen, our house of formation in Mexico City, has recently completed an expansion project, adding a conference room and eight bedrooms.

A stained glass window originally from the now-closed Saint Gelasius Church in Chicago was recently installed at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Tenafly, New Jersey.
Reverend Kevin Shanley, O.Carm. recently was interviewed by the Chicago NBC television affiliate on the history of Darien, Illinois, especially the Carmelite property there, once the home of U.S. Congressman Martin B. Madden.
Very Reverend John Welch, O.Carm., served as interim president of the Washington Theological Union until his election as Prior Provincial.
Joe Futino, retired after serving for 42 years as maintenance director of Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The Middletown community went in procession straight from the Mass of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16th to a picnic held for all area Carmelites. Leading the procession are Carmelites Fabio Rojas, Mark Zittle, Francis Amodio, and Alfred Isaacson (front), and Jason Hungerford and John Baptist Hung Ho (behind).


Father Quinn Conners, O.Carm., gave a preached-retreat to the priests of the diocese of Hamilton, Ontario at the Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre in Niagara Falls.
In late July Reverend John Knoernschild, O.Carm., (left) completed studies for a professional certificate from the Johnson Institute of Spiritual Gerontology in Saint Louis from the director, Dr. Richard Johnson.
Carmelite novices, John Baptist Hung Ho, Mark Zittle, Joseph Phuong Ngo (standing, all of the SEL Province) and Jason Hungerford (of the PCM Province) were received into the novitiate during Vespers on Sunday, June 12th, at Brandsma Priory in Middletown, NY.
In May, Father Gerard Power, O.Carm., gave a talk to some 800 Grade-12 students in Saint Patrick’s Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario. This was followed by a “Walk Against Violence,” as the students walked through the tourist area of Niagara Falls carrying placards and chanting. The walk ended at Loretto Convent where all the participants enjoyed a cook-out organized by many local organizations.
Carmelite Brothers Stephan Huy Tran, Stephan Tuu Le (to the left of Father Michael Kissane, Prior Provincial of the Saint Elias Province) and Joseph Hung Tran and Emiel Abalahin (to the right) made Solemn (final) Vows on Saturday, July 30th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, New York.
