Breathe in deeply, hold it, and exhale completely. Repeat three times.
Relax. Visualize yourself in God's presence.
What does that feel like? Look like?
Is it an image of peace? Is it an image of anger? Conflict? Love?
Using the words of this mantra, say slowly: ''maranatha'' which is the oldest Christian prayer (it means 'come, Lord'), in Aramaic, the language of Jesus, used by St Paul at the end of the First Letter to the Corinthians (16:22) and found in the earliest Christian liturgies. Repeat the mantra slowly to yourself for as long as it takes to put yourself in a prayerful state.
“I have testimony greater than John’s…these works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.”
“You must become gentle; never any harsh words; never a harsh tone…” Therese knew so well that when we treat others with sensitivity and compassion as Jesus did, this testifies to who we are! Be intentional today in all your interactions with others, heeding Therese’s advice.
Quiet yourself. Open your heart.
Take three deep breaths.
Disconnect and listen.
How long would you like to pray for?
