Put yourself in a comfortable position that will allow you to concentrate and feel calm. Breathe in deeply, hold it, exhale completely. Repeat three times. Relax. Visualize yourself in God's presence.
Using Psalm 46:10, say slowly:
Be still and know that I am God
Be still and know that I am
Be still and know
Repeat a few times.
Relax and breathe in deeply, hold it and exhale completely.
You are trying your best just to be with God.
Nevertheless, God usually imparts to those whom he brings into this night the humility and the readiness, even though they feel displeasure, to do what is commanded of them for his sake alone.
St. John of the Cross
God gives souls drawn into the dark night what they need to accept God’s will, “though they feel displeasure.” Pray today that you will trust God without reservation, even in the darkness.
Quiet yourself. Open your heart.
Take three deep breaths.
Disconnect and listen.
