Check in

Breathe in deeply, hold it, and exhale completely. Repeat three times.
Relax. Visualize yourself in God's presence.
What does that feel like? Look like?
Is it an image of peace? Is it an image of anger? Conflict? Love?
Using the words of this mantra, say slowly: ''maranatha'' which is the oldest Christian prayer (it means 'come, Lord'), in Aramaic, the language of Jesus, used by St Paul at the end of the First Letter to the Corinthians (16:22) and found in the earliest Christian liturgies. Repeat the mantra slowly to yourself for as long as it takes to put yourself in a prayerful state.

And here lies the remarkabe delight of this awakening: The soul knows creatures through God and not God through creatures.

When we have entered into that deep place of contemplation, we begin to see all things in a new light – from the perspective of God and through God’s eyes. Pray today for the gift of seeing all of creation in God and “through God.”
