Put yourself in a comfortable position that will allow you to concentrate and feel calm. Breathe in deeply, hold it, exhale completely. Repeat three times. Relax. Visualize yourself in God's presence.
Using Psalm 46:10, say slowly:
Be still and know that I am God
Be still and know that I am
Be still and know
Repeat a few times.
Relax and breathe in deeply, hold it and exhale completely.
You are trying your best just to be with God.
[God] leaves the intellect in darkness; the will in aridity; the memory in emptiness; and the affections in supreme affliction, bitterness, and anguish, by depriving the soul of the feelings and satisfaction it previously obtained from spiritual blessings.
St. John of the Cross
As you pray today, place your trust in God who alone can bring you solace in the midst of your sufferings.
Quiet yourself. Open your heart.
Take three deep breaths.
Disconnect and listen.
