The Carmelite Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary has elected new provincial leadership for the next three years. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the elected members were confirmed to their offices by the Prior General, Fr. Miceal O’Neill, O. Carm., via a live-streamed teleconference ceremony from Rome on Thursday morning, June 25, 2020. The newly elected members are:

Instead of in-person voting, the election of the new Provincial Council (administrative team) was done via the mail this year. Although this new way of electing and installing was due to the Pandemic, the Church has always been quick to embrace new technologies. The next election is slated for 2023 so we’ll see what happens.
