The Carmelite Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary welcomed five new members on Friday, January 10, 2020 at a profession ceremony at the Carmelite retreat house Villa Carmelitas in Lurín, Perú. They are: Miguel Angel Guerra Martínez, José Manuel Santos Alvarado, Juan Esteban Rodriguez Benítez, Frans Jhonatan Leyva Bardeléz, Eduardo Antonio Díaz. Due to the large number of people attending, the Profession Mass was held in the conference hall.
Three of the newly professed are from El Salvador, one is from Perú and one is from Venezuela, although a member of the Peruvian Commissariat.
The Mass celebrated by the Prior Provincial, Fr. William J. Harry, O. Carm., with concelebrants from the leadership of the Commissariat and the formators in Perú. Fr. Gregorio Geaney preached.
All five of the newly professed will be assigned to the United States. Those from El Salvador will reside with the Carmelite community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the campus of Salpointe Catholic High School while studying English at the University of Arizona. The two members of the Peruvian Commissariat will live at Whitefriars Hall in Washington, DC., while studying English until December 2020.
We congratulate these men and their families. Most of all, we give thanks for our God for his continued blessing of vocations to the Province.
