Station 1 “Jesus is condemned and led away”

Pilate said to them,
“Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?”
All of them said,
“Let him be crucified!”
Then he asked,
“Why, what evil has he done?”
But they shouted all the more,
“Let him be crucified!”
So he released Barabbas for them;
and after flogging Jesus, he handed him over to be crucified.
(Matthew 27:22-23.26)

On a threshing floor,
the fail of sin has threshed the Holy Wheat and broken the chaff.
Your blood flowed in streams and still seeps from all your wounds.
The last drop is not yet spilled.
True, the pallor of death already covers your body,
but in your eyes I still read the glow of the fire of your love
that burns like a fever which consumes you until it is fulfilled.
That look brought Peter to himself tonight. – – –
O God, drive that scandal away from me.
I know: “Watch and pray,” is the only answer you vouchsafe me.
While four hands of executioners roughly and unfeelingly take you away to be crucified,
My God, I will pray.
I will look upon your suffering.
I will sound the depths of your lov
by looking into the depths of your humiliation.
